The House Theatre of Chicago’s Season on the Line, written by my friend and A Crew of Patches cohort Shawn Pfautsch, opens tomorrow night. The story serves two roles: First, it is an adaptation of Moby Dick. The play transfers the themes of the classic American novel to a completely new setting: a modern American theatre company. Our Ishmael is a young and inexperienced assistant stage manager, spending a season working with Bad Settlement Theatre Company as it pursues its artistic director’s great obsession – the perfect adaptation of Moby Dick.  Second, as the tagline says, the play is a love letter to American theatre. It’s a look backstage at the nuts and bolts of play-making and the people who make it happen.

We run until October 26th. See you there!
